„Der Papillon“
Der Rassestandart beschreibt 1990 das allgemeine Erscheinungsbild mit den Worten
„ Dieser prachtvolle Spaniel mit langem Haar hat einen normalen, harmonischen Körperbau; sein mäßig langer Fang ist kürzer als der Schädel. Er ist lebhaft und anmutig, jedoch auch robust und stolz in seiner Haltung. Sein Gang ist frei und elegant“
Unsere eleganten und doch robusten Zwerge sind keine kleinen Hunde der modernen Zeit, sondern eine uralte Hunderasse dessen Ursprung weit ins 12-14 Jahrhundert reicht.
Unsere Zwerge gibt es in zwei Varianten , einmal den Papillon, unsere Schmetterlinge, mit großen aufrecht stehenden Ohren , und dessen ursprünglichen Vorfahren der Phalene, Nachtfalter mit hängenden Ohren.
Die Schmetterlinge gibt es in verschiedenen Größen, von sehr klein bis etwas größer, 17-34 cm, wobei laut Rassestandart 24–30 cm angestrebt sind.
Papillons sind normal proportionierte Kleinhunde mit pflegeleichtem langem seidigem Haarkleid. Dieses sieht zwar pflegeintensiv aus, ist es aber nicht. Wöchentliches kämmen oder bürsten reicht völlig aus und ab und an, je nach Verschmutzung ist ein Bad nötig. Er verfügt über ein elegantes, doch belastbares Gangwerk, somit ist er auch für Hundesportarten geeignet. Großer Hund in ein kleines Packet gepackt sage ich immer, denn in jedem unserer Zwerge steckt ein ganz großer.
Papillons sind sehr anhängliche und verträgliche Wegbegleiter die es schätzen in Menschlicher Gesellschaft zu sein da sie nicht gerne allein sein wollen. Egal ob in der Stadt oder auf dem Land, Wohnung oder Haus, für einen Papillon ist überall Platz da er sehr anpassungsfähig ist.
Eine Besonderheit ist die Einfühlsamkeit unserer Schmetterlinge, die sich im Laufe der Zeit und mit zunehmendem Alter entwickelt. Sind sie als Welpe noch unbekümmerte kleine Eigennutze, die ihr Temperament ausleben, kommt mit zunehmendem Alter die Fähigkeit zu spüren, wie es „ihrem“ Menschen zu Mute ist. Bei fröhlicher Stimmung wird getobt, gespielt oder sich zum Clown gemacht, ist man betrübt, zeigt er einem seine ganze Liebe und ist bemüht einen so gut wie es ihm möglich ist Trost zu spenden. Streit oder Unstimmigkeiten in der Familie mag dieses kleine Energiebündel gar nicht und leidet sehr darunter.
Geeignet ist unser Papillon für Jung und Alt, benötigt jedoch eine liebevolle und konsequente Erziehung, da sie über eine hohe Intelligenz verfügen, versuchen sie ohne die ihnen nötige Erziehung, gerne das Kommando zu übernehmen. Bei liebevoller Haltung und der nötigen Pflege, haben sie in einem Papillon einen Freund fürs Leben gefunden der ihnen immer treu zur Seite stehen wird.

This little magnificent Toy Spaniel, with long hair, has a normal, harmonious physique; his moderately long muzzle shorter than his skull. He is lively and graceful, yet robust and proud in his bearing.
Our elegant and robust dwarves are no small dogs of modern times, but thier ancestry dates back to the 12-14th century.
The correct breed name is Continental Toy Spaniel and they come in two varieties: the Papillon, our butterfly with erect ears; and the original, the Phalene with hanging ears.
The butterflies vary in size from 17-34 centimeters, although according to the Breed Standard, 24-30 centimeters is strived for.
Papillons are normal proportioned dogs with easy to care for silky like long hair. The fur may look like it is high maintenance, but it is not. Weekly combing or brushing and an occassional bath, when needed, will suffice. He has an elegant, yet resilient gait. Hence he is suitable for sports. A big dog in a small package I always say, because in every one of our dwarves is a very big one.
Papillons are very affectionate and companionable that are family oriented and do not like to be alone. Regardless if in the city or country, apartment or house, there is always room for a Papillon as he can always adapt.
A distinctive trait is the empathy our butterflies develop in the passing of time. As puppies they are still the carefree little "self" oriented that live out their temperaments, but as they grow, so does their capability to sense how "their" human is feeling. When we are happy they will play or make clowns of themselves. If we are sad they will give us all their love and try their best to comfort us as best as they can. They cannot stand inconsistencies, fighting or arguing in the family and will suffer greatly.
The Papillon is suitable for young and old, but requires a loving and consistent upbringing. As they are quite intelligent, they will try to take over if you do not give them the needed upbringing. With a loving manner and proper care you will have a friend for life in a Papillon, who will always be faithfully at your side.
